Rehome

Project : 2021
The idea behind the project is to subjectively interpret the word "home" and shed light on the struggle of searching for "home". The project follows my personal experiences and feelings when I was in my twenties and did not feel “at home” anywhere. Not even in my parents' house. The collage is inspired by memories of places I lived in; studio apartments in Ramat Gan or rooms in homes of people I had relationships with. All of these places made me want to escape from reality to other places, in search for a better life. The collage shows the humidity in houses I lived in, or textural details that I still remember. The memory is unclear and uncertain, and allows me to create a vague and abstract atmosphere of "home". I felt cold in the houses where I lived and hated them. This encouraged me to rebuild and design the space as I had always pictured my dream home; and it was the cold that made me recreate the rooms and spaces into fabrics that gave me a feeling of warmth I never felt in the houses where I lived. The fabric is spread on a wall made of collage that invites the viewer to be a part of "My Home". The statement behind the work is that “home”, as I see it, is a warm, colorful and dynamic place, where every corner can be a home in itself.
